▸ Overview

AOD-9604 is a modified fragment of the C-terminus of human growth hormone (hGH), specifically designed to reproduce GH's lipolytic effects without influencing growth or blood glucose. It is investigated for body-fat metabolism.

▸ Mechanism of action

• A synthetic fragment of the C-terminus of human GH (amino acids 176–191), reproducing its lipolytic properties.
• Activates beta-3 adrenergic receptors in adipose tissue, directly stimulating lipolysis (release of fatty acids).
• Inhibits lipogenesis (formation of new fat) without activating IGF-1 receptors, so it does NOT produce bone or muscle growth.
• Does not interfere with blood glucose or insulin resistance, making it metabolically neutral.
• Studies show preferential reduction of abdominal and visceral fat with minimal effect on muscle.
• Unlike full GH, it does not suppress the endogenous GH axis or produce the side effects associated with exogenous GH.
