▸ Overview

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound 157) is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a gastric protective protein. It is widely studied for its regenerative properties in muscle tissue, tendons, ligaments, gastric mucosa and the nervous system.

▸ Mechanism of action

• A pentadecapeptide (15 AA) derived from the endogenous gastric protective protein BPC, stable in the gastrointestinal tract.
• Upregulates vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), accelerating the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis).
• Activates the FAK-paxillin pathway, stimulating fibroblast migration and proliferation for tissue repair.
• Has gastroprotective properties: protects the gastric mucosa and reverses ulcers and intestinal damage.
• Exerts neuroprotective effects: studies show accelerated recovery from peripheral nerve injuries.
• Modulates the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, with potential anxiolytic and antidepressant effects observed in animal models.
• Inhibits systemic inflammation by modulating the production of TNF-α, IL-6 and other pro-inflammatory cytokines.

• Subcutaneous or intramuscular route: localized injection near the area of interest or in the abdomen.
• Oral: capsules or solution; investigated for systemic and digestive effects.
• Reconstitution: lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water.
• Storage: 2–8 °C after reconstitution; use within 28 days.

• No strict fasting restrictions, unlike GH peptides.
• Can be administered at any time of day.
• For local injuries, perilesional injection (near the affected site) is the most studied approach.
